I'm a black woman, and I've been a fan of pop music for as long as I can remember. I remember listening to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" on the radio when I was a little girl, and being mesmerized by her voice. I also remember watching Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation" video on MTV, and being inspired by her strength and confidence.
