Sundiver is set in the year 2042, and follows the story of Jordan Kell, a young woman who is chosen to lead an expedition to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. The expedition is funded by the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA),and is intended to search for evidence of life at the deepest point on Earth.

Jordan is joined on the expedition by a team of scientists and engineers, including Dr. Tony "Doc" Werner, a marine biologist; Dr. Susan "Suzy" Calvin, a computer scientist; and Captain Jim "Skipper" McCallister, the commander of the submersible that will take the team to the bottom of the trench.

The expedition is fraught with danger, and the team must overcome a number of challenges, including extreme pressure, darkness, and the threat of predators. However, they eventually reach the bottom of the trench, and discover a thriving ecosystem that is home to a variety of creatures, including giant clams, tube worms, and sea spiders.

The team also discovers evidence of an ancient civilization that once lived at the bottom of the trench. This civilization, which Jordan names "Lemuria," was highly advanced, and possessed a technology that allowed them to control the environment of the trench.

Jordan and her team return to the surface with their discovery, and the world is震惊d. The discovery of Lemuria provides new insights into the history of the Earth, and raises the possibility that there may be other civilizations living in the depths of the ocean.

  • Jordan Kell: The protagonist of the novel, Jordan is a young woman who is chosen to lead the expedition to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. She is a skilled diver and a talented scientist, and she is determined to succeed in her mission.

  • The fragility of life: The novel also explores the fragility of life. The creatures that live at the bottom of the Mariana Trench are adapted to extreme conditions, but they are also vulnerable to human activity. Jordan and her team must be careful not to disturb the ecosystem of the trench, and they must respect the creatures that live there.
  • The power of science: The novel shows the power of science to change the world. Jordan and her team's discovery of Lemuria provides new insights into the history of the Earth, and it raises the possibility that there may be other civilizations living in the depths of the ocean.
