The True Story of Scott O'Grady

Scott O'Grady was born in 1965 in Spokane, Washington. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1987 and became a pilot. In 1995, O'Grady was deployed to Bosnia as part of NATO's peacekeeping force. On June 2, 1995, O'Grady's F-16 Fighting Falcon was shot down by a Serbian missile. He ejected from the plane and landed in enemy territory.

O'Grady was captured by Serbian forces and held captive for six days. During that time, he was tortured and interrogated. Despite the pain and suffering he endured, O'Grady never gave up hope. He knew that he would eventually be rescued, and he refused to let his captors break him.

On June 8, 1995, O'Grady was rescued by U.S. Marines. He was flown to Germany for medical treatment, and he eventually returned to the United States.
